Career Highlights:

One of motor racing’s hottest young properties, Anthony Davidson’s first Grand Prix came just three years after he made his debut appearance in a single-seater racing car.

As with so many other successful drivers, he began his motorsport career by karting, at the tender age of 8. Anthony reaped the rewards of this apprenticeship by taking multiple Karting Championship titles in Britain, and achieving notable success in Championships around the world.

He progressed in 1999 to single-seaters and the British Formula Ford series with Hawkins Racing and immediately impressed the motor racing world by winning the BRSCC FF Zetec Championship and the FF1600 Festival.

A second season in Formula Ford, with Haywood Racing, solidified Anthony’s claim to stardom and he added the prestigious British Ford Ford Festival to his tally of victories as well as achieving further recognition by winning the closely contested BRDC/McLaren/Autosport Young Driver of the Year Award.

In 2001 Anthony not only began his F1 career by becoming official test driver for the BAR-Honda team, but was also snapped up by the Carlin Motorsport team for the highly competitive British Formula 3 Championship. Despite winning six races and numerous podium finishes he was just beaten to Championship honours. He did, however, win the Blue Riband European events in Pau and Spa, taking the European F3 title.

Since become a test driver, Davidson has covered many, many thousands of kilometres in a Formula One car, and thus it was in 2002 that BAR released him from his testing duties to allow him to gain race experience and compete for the Minardi Asiatech team in Hungary and Belgium.

This season he continues with his F1 testing duties and will be keeping race-sharp by being part of the driver line up for the Veloqx Prodrive Racing team at Sebring and Le Mans.
